The VOW Scarf: A Perfect Accessory That Also Gives Back

Jan 17, 2023 ,

What if you could donate enough to pay the school enrollment fees for one girl for one year, simply by purchasing a gorgeous and colorful handmade silk scarf? If you’re shopping for the perfect accessory that makes you feel amazing, or a gift that also gives back and supports women and girls at the same time, look no further than VOW for Girls’ newest accessory, the VOW Scarf. Whether this colorful accessory is a gift to a friend or a gift to yourself, know that half of the purchase price will be donated to VOW’s global movement to end the international child marriage crisis.

Designed By A Girl

The artwork for this colorful scarf was made by Salamatou, a girl who lives in Niger and loves to draw. She is involved with a local organization supported by VOW that is dedicated to promoting girls’ empowerment. Niger is a focus country for VOW, as it has the highest prevalence of child marriage in the world with 76% of girls married before the age of 18. (Source: UNICEF global databases 2020, based on Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS), Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS), and other national surveys.)

VOW believes in grassroots solutions aimed at creating a world where every girl – girls like Salamatou – can own her future and no girl is a bride.

VOW believes that girls can go further and achieve more if we all commit to giving them the opportunities they deserve. 100% of funding from the public and partners goes directly to community-led efforts around the world working to end child marriage.

Help To End Child Marriage

Our grantees, which are mainly women-led local organizations, use the funding we provide to directly support girls.

Twelve million girls a year, some as young as 8, become child brides. VOW is a global movement of the wedding industry community, partners and couples who are dedicated to a world where no child is ever a bride and where every girl has the chance to live the life she loves.
