How to Add VOW to Your Existing Wedding Registry
January 3, 2022
If you’re getting married and want to include an element of giving back to your wedding day, using your wedding registry is a great and easy option. Today, we’re going to give you three simple steps to add a charitable donation to VOW for Girls, to your existing wedding registry. So as you celebrate choosing each other you can help millions of girls also choose love on their own terms.

Today, wedding registries with a charitable component also take different forms based on the couple’s needs. If you are a couple who already has everything you need or lives in a city-sized apartment and is not looking to receive gifts we recommend checking out our charitable wedding registry option as an alternative.
However for the couple who wish to have a traditional wedding gift registry (and their eye set on a stand mixer) adding a charity to your existing registry is a great option. Here is a step-by-step on how to do exactly that!

Step 1: Confirm Your Existing Registry Has a Cash Fund Option

Adding a cash fund option to your wedding registry may feel taboo, however this has become increasingly common among couples. Often registry platforms will include a cash fund option for a honeymoon or down payment on a house, but for couples who are looking for a charitable option, you can make VOW your charity of choice and help girls around the world choose love on their own terms with the click of a button!

VOW couples Natalie and Jack and Lexie and Cameron both had Zola registries and added VOW for Girls to their registries as a cash fund option.

Step 2: Add VOW for Girls to Your Wedding Registry

Once you have established the cash fund option is available to you, you can easily add it to your registry, add the VOW logo and a brief description of why you and your partner support VOW for Girls to your registry. This is not only a great option for your guests to “round up” a gift on your list, but it also serves as an outlet if your registry fills up so you are not receiving multiple china sets, but instead are making a direct impact in the lives of girls around the world.
If you would like to provide your guests with tangible examples of how the funds donated to VOW are used, we are happy to provide those as well! For example, $10 can provide school supplies for a girl for one month. If you set a goal to raise $1K that will be able to provide 100 girls with school supplies for one month. For additional options please email us at weddings@vowforgirls.org.

“ For us, the life and voice of every child matters, and we believe that every woman and girl deserves the right to choose if, when, and to whom they get married. We also want to empower other young people to understand that they can have an impact on the causes they’re passionate about, and we can all make choices that make the places we live a little bit better.”
VOW couple Amelia and Kevin added a cash fund option dedicated to VOW to their registry, and added a note that they would match all guest donations as well!

Step 3: Easily Donate

Once you’ve celebrated your wedding day and received your wedding gifts, you can simply donate the cash fund through our website. 100% of funds raised go directly to community-based efforts to end child marriage.
No matter where you fall on the subject, wedding registries and gift lists are a part of wedding planning for many couples. We hope this step-by-step guide of how to add VOW for Girls to your existing wedding registry shows how easy it is to make your registry do more, and help girls around the world choose love on their own terms!
We want to feature you as our next “VOW Couple”! As you donate, let us know how you “VOWed” your wedding as shown below!
