Corporate Partnerships Intern

Employment type: Part Time, Internship
Based in: Remote
Ideal Start Date: October 15th, 2020

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Launched in October 2018, VOW to End Child Marriage is an innovative new social change initiative that puts the power of the global wedding industry behind the worldwide movement to end child marriage. Every year, 12 million girls are married before the age of 18; some as young as 8 or 9. VOW believes that every girl has the right to a safe and healthy future, including the right to choose if, when and whom to marry.

VOW invites engaged couples, their guests and the wider public to make a difference for girls across the world. At the heart of our approach are partnerships with iconic wedding brands – including Crate and Barrel, The Knot, The Peninsula Hotels and others – that are engaging their customers in funding efforts to end child marriage. The idea is simple: When a couple says ‘I DO,’ we can all help girls at risk of child marriage to say ‘I DON’T’.

VOW, headquartered in New York City, is seeking a virtual, Corporate Partnerships intern looking to gain valuable experience and better understand the role of Corporate Partnerships within a nonprofit organization. The Corporate Partnerships intern will have the unique opportunity to make sizable contributions in building and creating a portfolio of top brands that will be pivotal in expanding the growth and impact of the organization, and helping to ensure that girls everywhere have a voice and a choice in their future.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Participate in building and expanding the brands and partnerships portfolio aimed at supporting girls’ rights and gender equality.
  • Identify, research and vet brands – identify what brand partnerships would help take VOW to the next level, while also doing sufficient research to understand the potential partner’s ethos and solvable. What brands have alignment with girls’ equality, VOW’s mission to end child marriage and/or the wedding industry? What partnerships would be exciting and compelling and help push VOW’s mission forward?
  • Relationship Cultivating – identify the best contacts to reach out to and draft or outline captivating emails that speak the language of the brand (What do they care about? Have they been in the news recently for the great work they’re doing? Why would they make a great VOW partner?)
  • Strategic Planning – work with the Corporate Partnerships and Development Lead and the Communications & Marketing Lead to develop a strategic plan for global expansion. Brainstorm and collaborate on the best tactics to scale, generate revenue and explore the most effective ways to execute proposed plan(s).
  • Design Support – assist in creation of pitch and campaign materials to support gender equality and girls’ rights.
  • Weekly insights – Providing VOW staff with weekly email insights, trends and takeaways around child marriage and girls’ rights
  • Partnership Project – Ongoing project throughout internship that showcases work
  • Organizational needs – Collaborate and support other departments as needed (and time permitting).
