Why Should We Support a Charity with Our Wedding?
When it comes to choosing a charity, nonprofit, or cause to support with your wedding, it can be tough to know where to start. Everything from opting for charitable donations in lieu of wedding gifts or favors to hiring wedding vendors are opportunities to support a charity with your wedding. However, in getting started, there are so many things to consider and different ways to do it that can feel a little overwhelming.
“Ryan and I felt strongly from the beginning that in lieu of gifts we wanted our wedding guests to put their money somewhere it would truly make a difference. When we came across VOW for Girls and the incredible work the organization does, it felt like the perfect cause for us to support.”

Reasons to Support a Charity
You are looking to add even more meaning to your wedding day
You feel that you have everything you need and are not looking to ask for gifts from guests
You are looking for viable alternatives to favors that feel a little more sustainable
You want to be intentional with how you spend your dollars while planning your wedding
You want to include a give back element to your celebration that will go beyond your wedding day itself
You want to start off your married life together on an even more positive note
You want to hire wedding professionals that share your values
VOW for Girls is uniquely tied to the wedding industry through the way we partner with couples and wedding professionals to raise awareness and funds to end the international child marriage crisis. So as you celebrate choosing each other you can help millions of girls choose love on their own terms.
VOW for Girls is also unique in the fact that there are multiple ways to “VOW” your wedding, and we are always open to creative new ideas to give back! Some of our most popular ways to give back with your wedding are:
Create a Charitable Wedding Registry
Don’t need or want any gifts? Instead of a traditional gift registry, create a personalized registry in 3 easy steps and ask your guests for donations in lieu of (or in addition to) wedding gifts. Link to your wedding website to make it easy for your guests to find.

Replace Favors With Donations
Wedding favors that your guests won’t leave behind! Add more meaning to your wedding by replacing favors with donations in honor of each guest. Did you know just $181 can cover school fees for a girl for a year?
Shop VOW Products
Find the perfect gift for the events surrounding your wedding – from welcome bags, bridesmaids gifts, registry items and more. A portion of proceeds from all partner products supports VOW.

Add VOW to Your Existing Registry or Gift List
Want to give back but still register for fun wedding gifts? No problem! Add VOW for Girls as a charitable cash fund option on your existing wedding gift registry and simply donate the funds to VOW after your wedding.

About VOW for Girls
From wedding registry donations to partner product purchases, everything donated to VOW (that’s 100% of donations!) goes directly to community-driven efforts to help girls around the world. Our grantees, which are mainly women-led local organizations, use the funding we provide to directly support girls.
Twelve million girls a year, some as young as 8, become child brides. VOW is a global movement of the wedding industry community, partners and couples who are dedicated to a world where no child is ever a bride and where every girl has the chance to live the life she loves.
